Acquarium & Coca Cola Museum
Sunday morning was chucking down with rain. So we thought “OK, let’s go to the Aquarium” which is just next door. What a great experience!! Atlanta has the largest aquarium in the world, opened in 2005. We got in and started with the Ocean Voyager exhibit which is an experience in itself. Ocean Voyager showcases around 100,000 fish, including huge whale sharks. Took a trillion photos and then went to the cafeteria to have breakfast. We visited all exhibits, including Tropical Diver and Cold Water Quest. But we had no idea that with the Dolphins Tales we were really in for a treat! The Dolphin Tales is an amazing acrobatic water show. Dolphins and swimmers really mesmerise the audience and leave you speechless. You got to see it to understand what I mean!
After the aquarium, we went to the Coca Cola Museum.
I got to be honest, it’s not something I would recommend, just good for a rainy day. It’s packed (as you can imagine) with Coca Cola memorabilia and merchandise. The highlight of the visit is the tasting room where you can sample (if your stomach can take it) every single Coca Cola beverage from all over the world.
By the time we finished the tour it was already 3pm and some food seemed reasonable. We went to the Biergarten around the corner and had wurstels, sauerkraut, potato salad and two pints of german lager…paradise!!
Once our bellies were full, it seemed a good idea to have a nap…well, from 5pm to 8pm we snored like bears!! Once we woke up, we realized we were hungry again, so Paola picked up the Lonely Planet and found a recommended grill joint that was just 10 minutes driving from the hotel. We drove to Fat Matt’s Rib Shack, got half a rack of ribs, mac & cheese and two pints of lager. That was soooo good!
The pictures on the walls were those of famous blues men and we spent around an hour looking at them. Back on the Jeep, we headed back to the hotel, ready for another good night sleep.
That’s it for now.
Take it easy and good night.
