First night in Atlanta
We’re on US soil!
We had a pleasant flight which landed on time in the end (7:30pm DST), got the luggage and went through immigration. We panicked just a little as I couldn’t find our immigration paper, thought for a second we were going to be sent back to UK! “Found it” I said and handed it over to the immigration officer. He let us through and we were officially in the USA.
Then we headed to the car rental office. That’s definitely not close to the airport, dude! Took us a good 15 minutes by shuttle bus to get to Dollar car rental desk. Another 15 minutes and we jumped on our silver Jeep. Time to adjust the navigation system and off we were on Atlanta highways! That wasn’t easy to say the least but in the end we managed to reach the hotel which is downtown, just opposite Atlanta Aquarium.
The hotel needs a revamp, it looks a bit tired but it’s not too bad. Went up to our room on the 5th floor, opened our suitcases, got a shower, and went straight back out for some food. We took the wrong turn, walked for a while but couldn’t find a restaurant or any food joints at all. Headed back to the hotel and then found a pizzeria just around the corner, the only place which at 11ish pm still served food.
Had a nice 12′ Margherita and two pints of lager at Max’s and then we went back to the hotel. Hit the matress and passed out. That was nice! After a good night sleep we are now already up at 6am, damn jet lag! Time for a coffee and plan the day ahead.
Talk to you soon.
